Pitch

Take your dog training up a level with the Ancol Dog Whistle — a simple, reliable tool trusted by professional trainers and everyday owners alike. Unlike your voice, a whistle gives a clear, consistent, emotion-free signal that cuts through wind and background noise, so your dog gets the same unambiguous cue every time. Ideal for recall and obedience work.

Choose the pitch that suits you and your dog:

  • Adjustable pitch: Tune the tone with the screw mechanism to find the pitch your dog responds to best.
  • Constant pitch: A fixed frequency that sounds exactly the same however hard you blow — handy if you want a consistent, repeatable tone or a spare that always matches.

Both are compact, lightweight metal whistles that slip easily into a pocket or onto a lanyard, with instructions printed on the pack to help you get started.

  • Clear, consistent signal: Carries further than your voice and ignores wind and noise.
  • Emotion-free cue: Won't betray frustration or panic, so your dog reads it the same every time.
  • Great for recall: Perfect for open spaces, fields and windy days.
  • Compact & lightweight: Easy to carry on every walk and training session.
  • Two pitch options: Adjustable to tune, or constant for a fixed tone.

How to use

Pair the whistle with reward-based training: blow the whistle, then reward your dog the moment they respond, so the sound becomes a reliable cue. With the adjustable model, turn the screw to set a pitch your dog reacts well to, then keep it consistent. Keep sessions short, positive and repeatable.

Ancol is an established British pet brand, stocked at Hairy Dogs.

Common questions

What's the difference between adjustable and constant?
The adjustable whistle lets you turn a screw to change the pitch and find the tone your dog responds to best. The constant whistle is fixed at one frequency that stays the same however hard you blow — useful for a consistent, repeatable tone, and easy to replace like-for-like. Both train in exactly the same way.
Why use a whistle instead of my voice?
A whistle carries further and stays clear in wind and noise, and it always sounds the same — which dogs find much easier to learn than a voice that changes with your mood or volume.
Is this a silent (ultrasonic) whistle?
No — these are audible training whistles, so you'll hear them too. That actually makes them easier to use consistently, as you always know when and how you've blown the cue.
How do I start whistle training?
Choose a cue — recall is the usual starting point — then blow the whistle and reward the instant your dog comes or responds. Repeat little and often so the sound reliably predicts something good, and your dog will soon respond to it anywhere.
