The Anco Premium Duck Pâté is made from duck meat, gizzard, and heart — the same three-part organ composition as the Turkey pâté, with a distinctively richer flavour profile that many dogs find particularly appealing. Duck is chicken free and a relatively novel protein for most UK dogs, which makes it a useful option for rotation feeding, picky eaters that have gone off more familiar proteins, or dogs with a sensitivity to chicken or beef. Grain free, suitable from 8 weeks. Slice, dice, spread, stuff, or use to disguise tablets.

  • Duck meat, gizzard, and heart: Duck Meat 74%, Duck Gizzard 15%, Duck Heart 10%, Vitamins & Minerals 1%. Gizzard provides lean muscle protein and B vitamins; heart contributes CoQ10 and taurine alongside the base protein of the duck meat.
  • Chicken free, relatively novel protein: Duck is not as widely used in commercial dog food as chicken or beef, making it a lower-exposure protein for many dogs. Useful for rotation feeding to reduce the risk of sensitisation to a single protein, or for dogs that have already developed a chicken sensitivity.
  • Rich, appealing flavour: Duck has a more pronounced flavour than chicken or turkey, which makes it a higher-value reward for many dogs — particularly useful for training sessions where motivational level matters.
  • Versatile format: Holds its shape when sliced or diced for training treats, and soft enough for lick mats, Kong-style toys, and enrichment surfaces. The 400g roll provides good volume for regular use.
  • Mix with other flavours: Available alongside Lamb, Chicken, Beef, and Turkey as part of the Anco Pâté Mix & Match bundle at Hairy Dogs.

Common questions

Is duck suitable for dogs with a chicken sensitivity?
Duck and chicken are different proteins and are not closely cross-reactive. Many dogs that react to chicken tolerate duck well. However, both are poultry, and some dogs with a general poultry sensitivity may react to duck. For dogs with a confirmed chicken allergy rather than a general poultry sensitivity, duck is typically a safe option — but introduce gradually and monitor for any reaction, particularly if your dog is on a strict elimination protocol.
How do I use this for training?
Slice a section from the roll and cut into small pieces — the pâté holds together without crumbling, making it easy to manage in a treat bag or pocket. The rich duck scent makes this a high-value motivator for most dogs, which can be particularly useful for training sessions with easily distracted dogs or in high-stimulation environments.
How is this different from standard wet dog food?
Standard wet food is designed as a meal and typically too soft to handle as treats. This pâté has a firmer texture — it holds its shape when sliced or diced, making it practical for training and enrichment use. It is a complementary treat, not a meal replacement.
How long does it keep once opened?
Refrigerate immediately once opened and use within 3 days. Wrap the cut end or store in an airtight container. A 400g roll typically covers one to two weeks of regular training sessions when sliced as needed and refrigerated between uses.
Can I use this to fill a Kong or enrichment toy?
Yes — press slices into a Kong-style toy for immediate use, or freeze the filled toy to extend the enrichment session. Freezing adds a mild cooling effect and significantly increases the time your dog spends engaged with the toy.
