The Forest Tweed Trail & Glow harness from Bailey and Coco pairs a classic British countryside aesthetic with the complete Trail & Glow feature set. The forest green tweed exterior suits rural walks, woodland mornings, and dogs whose owners want functional equipment that also looks considered. The harness itself does not compromise on practicality — lockable neck clasp, three-buckle adjustment, front and back D-rings, a back handle, and reflective strips on both panels are all present and unchanged from the rest of the range.

  • Lockable neck clasp — no pull-over fitting: Fastens with a security clasp rather than pulling over the head. Open both buckles, position, clip the neck clasp, fasten the chest strap — a significantly easier process for dogs that resist the traditional method.
  • 3-buckle fully adjustable fit: Three independent adjustment points cover neck strap, chest strap, and girth strap, allowing a precise and comfortable fit across a wide range of body shapes within each size.
  • Dual D-rings — front and back: Front chest D-ring for no-pull lead attachment and ID tags. Back D-ring for standard walking. Both rated for daily use.
  • Back handle for close control: The sturdy handle between the shoulders provides a secure grip point at road crossings, near other dogs, or whenever you need to hold your dog close without grabbing the collar.
  • Reflective strips — front and back: Strips along the front chest and back panels ensure visibility from both directions in low light, without the need for a separate high-vis accessory.
  • Breathable quick-dry mesh lining: The inner mesh manages heat build-up and dries quickly after wet walks — useful year-round in UK conditions.

Sizing guide

Measure the neck at its narrowest point and the chest at its widest point behind the front legs. Use the chest measurement as your primary guide. If between sizes, go up.

Size Neck Chest Back length Typical fit
XS 24–34cm 26–50cm 20cm Small terriers, Chihuahua, Toy breeds
S 30–45cm 35–66cm 23cm Cocker Spaniel, Cavapoo, Jack Russell, Whippet
M 35–50cm 40–71cm 26.5cm Springer Spaniel, Beagle, Border Terrier
L 40–60cm 55–83cm 32cm Labrador, Border Collie, Dalmatian
XL 55–83cm 71–99cm 34cm Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Husky

How to fit

Open both buckles fully. Thread each front leg through the respective chest opening. Fasten the neck clasp first, then the chest buckle. Adjust neck and chest straps independently until the harness sits flat with two fingers of slack at every adjustment point. Check the fit after your first walk and re-adjust as needed.

Materials and care

Common questions

How do I choose the right size?
Use the chest measurement as your primary guide — measure around the widest part of the body behind the front legs. Neck size varies less between dogs of the same general size. If between sizes on chest, go up. Contact us with your measurements if unsure.
What is the difference between the front and back D-rings?
The front D-ring redirects a pulling dog towards you rather than allowing forward momentum — the no-pull attachment. The back D-ring is for standard relaxed walking. Many owners use front-clip for more challenging walks and switch to back-clip once their dog walks more calmly.
How does the neck clasp work?
The neck clasp is a lockable security mechanism — press and slide to open, rather than a standard push-button. This keeps it closed more reliably during active movement. Open both buckles, thread the legs through, clip the neck clasp, then fasten the chest buckle and adjust.
Will the tweed hold up on muddy country walks?
The harness handles normal UK outdoor conditions well — light mud, rain, and wet vegetation wipe off the exterior with a damp cloth after the walk. For very muddy conditions, a thorough wipe-down and air dry is recommended. The mesh lining also dries quickly, so the harness is ready again for a second walk the same day in most conditions.
How visible are the reflective strips on a patterned harness?
The reflective strips sit against the tweed pattern and activate clearly when hit by direct light — car headlights, torches, and street lighting all produce a strong reflection. The strips are positioned on the front chest and the back panel, ensuring visibility from oncoming traffic and from behind.
Does this coordinate with the Forest Tweed collar and lead?
Yes — the Forest Tweed harness, collar, 5ft lead, and poo bag holder are all designed as a coordinated set using the same forest green tweed pattern. All are stocked at Hairy Dogs. The lead clips directly to either D-ring on this harness.
