The Oxford Tweed bow tie from Bailey and Coco is a collar attachment that brings a distinctly British smartness to any dog's look. Made from a wool mix fabric in a classic tweed pattern, it fastens securely around any standard flat collar with a velcro tab and stays in position throughout the occasion. At 9cm by 5cm, it has enough presence to be seen without overwhelming smaller dogs — a versatile addition to your dog's wardrobe for celebrations, photoshoots, and anything that calls for a more considered appearance.

  • Wool mix tweed fabric: The fabric has the texture, weight, and structure of a quality accessory — it holds its shape during wear and reads as considered rather than novelty.
  • Velcro fastening: Wraps around any standard flat collar and presses firmly closed. On in one motion, off just as quickly — no clips, no knots, no fuss.
  • Well-proportioned size: At 9cm by 5cm, the bow tie sits clearly on the collar and photographs well on medium to large breeds. For smaller breeds, see the compatibility note below.
  • A straightforward gift: One of those accessories that dog owners genuinely appreciate — practical for occasions, easy to store, and a useful answer to the question of what to give someone who has everything for their dog.

How to attach

Slide the velcro tab behind your dog's collar so the bow tie sits centred on top. Press the velcro firmly closed around the collar band. Position it under your dog's chin for the neatest look, and check it is lying flat before setting off. If your dog moves their head a lot, give the velcro a firm press to ensure a secure grip before going out.

Materials and care

Wool mix fabric. Hand wash gently in cool water and reshape the bow while still damp. Do not tumble dry. Lay flat or hang to air dry. Do not iron directly on the fabric.

Compatibility

One size. Works with any standard flat collar up to approximately 30mm wide. Also compatible with Bailey and Coco's Trail & Glow harness collar attachment. Not recommended for very narrow or round rope-style collars, as the velcro tab may not grip as securely.

Common questions

Which collars does this work with?
It works with any standard flat collar up to approximately 30mm wide — the velcro tab wraps around the collar band and presses closed regardless of collar material. It is also compatible with Bailey and Coco's Trail & Glow harness collar attachment. We would not recommend it for very narrow collars under 10mm or round rope-style collars, where the velcro may not hold as securely.
My dog shakes their head a lot — will it stay on?
Velcro holds well on most flat collars, particularly when pressed firmly. Give it a firm press after attaching and check it is seated snugly against the collar fabric. For very active dogs or those prone to vigorous shaking, check the bow tie periodically during wear rather than assuming it will stay in position without checking.
Is it suitable for small breeds?
At 9cm by 5cm, the bow tie is proportioned for medium to large breeds and photographs well on dogs from Spaniel size upwards. It will attach to smaller collars but may look slightly large on a very small breed such as a Chihuahua or Toy Poodle. For a more proportionate look on small breeds, you might want to compare the dimensions against your dog's collar length before ordering.
What is it made from?
The bow tie is made from a wool mix fabric in a classic Oxford tweed pattern. Wool mix means the fabric contains wool fibres alongside other fibres — this gives it the texture and drape of tweed while helping it retain its shape. The fastening is velcro.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash gently in cool water using a mild detergent. Reshape the bow while the fabric is still damp, then lay flat or hang to air dry. Do not tumble dry or iron directly on the fabric, as heat can affect the shape and texture of the tweed.
My dog tries to chew things on their collar — is this safe?
We would recommend removing the bow tie when your dog is unsupervised or if they are prone to pulling at their collar accessories. The bow tie is not designed to be chewed or ingested. For any dog that regularly interferes with their collar attachments, it is best kept for supervised use only.
