Hairy Dogs Pig Ear Strips are air-dried single-ingredient pork chews sold in a 1kg bulk bag. Strips are cut from whole pig ears and offer the same natural chewing appeal as a whole ear in a more practical, portion-controlled format — particularly useful for smaller dogs, dogs in training, or owners who prefer to manage treat size rather than hand a dog an entire ear at once.

100% pork. Air-dried without artificial additives or preservatives. Single ingredient, grain-free, chicken-free.

  • Satisfying natural chew: Pig ears are one of the most appealing natural treats available — the combination of smell, flavour, and texture makes them highly motivating for the vast majority of dogs. Strips provide this same appeal in a format that takes longer to work through than a small biscuit but doesn't overwhelm a smaller dog the way a whole ear might.
  • Supports dental hygiene: The sustained chewing action required to work through a pig ear strip helps mechanically remove plaque and tartar build-up from teeth and along the gum line. This is most effective when chews are given regularly as part of an overall dental care routine — they complement brushing rather than replacing it.
  • Air-dried, not heavily processed: Air drying removes moisture slowly without high heat, preserving the natural structure and aroma of the treat without needing artificial preservatives or additives. The result is a stable, long-shelf-life treat that is close to its natural state.
  • Better portion control than whole ears: Strips allow you to offer a meaningful chewing experience without committing to a full pig ear — useful for dogs that are smaller, less experienced chewers, prone to eating too quickly, or being fed treats as part of calorie management.
  • High-value occasional treat: The strong natural aroma and palatability make these a high-value treat for most dogs — useful as a longer-duration reward for settling, crate time, or as an enrichment activity.
  • 1kg bulk bag: Cost-effective for regular feeding. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Feeding guidance

Suitable from 12 weeks for appropriate breed sizes. Feed as a complementary treat as part of a balanced diet — not a complete food. Always supervise your dog when feeding any natural chew and ensure fresh water is readily available.

Important: Pig ear strips are rich in fat (24.6%). Feed occasionally rather than daily, particularly for dogs prone to pancreatitis, dogs with a history of digestive sensitivity, dogs on low-fat dietary management, or dogs with a tendency towards weight gain. If your dog has a known history of pancreatitis, consult your vet before introducing high-fat chews. Reduce main meal portions on days when chews are fed to maintain appropriate calorie balance.

Common questions

Are pig ear strips safe for all dogs?
For most dogs, yes — pig ears are a well-tolerated, popular natural treat. The main considerations are fat content and chewing supervision. At 24.6% fat they're richer than many treats and should be fed occasionally rather than daily. Dogs with pancreatitis, hyperlipidaemia, or ongoing digestive issues should not be fed pig ears without veterinary guidance. For all dogs, supervision during chewing is recommended — as with any natural chew, swallowing large pieces or choking on the final remnant of a strip is a possibility if a dog is unsupervised.
How many strips are in a 1kg bag?
Strip count varies depending on the size of the individual strips, which are a natural product and vary batch to batch. A 1kg bag typically contains a substantial quantity — enough for several weeks of occasional feeding for most dogs. The bulk format represents significantly better value per gram than smaller pack sizes.
Why strips rather than whole pig ears?
Whole pig ears are a large treat — appropriate for bigger dogs but too much for small breeds, puppies, or dogs being calorie-managed. Strips offer the same chewing experience and palatability in a smaller, more controllable portion. They're also easier to use as a training reward or settlement treat where a whole ear would be impractical. The strips come from the same pig ear — the only difference is the cut.
Are these grain-free and suitable for sensitive dogs?
Yes — the only ingredient is pork. No grains, no chicken, no artificial additives. For dogs with grain or chicken sensitivities, these are a straightforward single-protein option. For dogs with pork sensitivity or on pork-free elimination diets, they should be avoided. For dogs with sensitive stomachs that don't have a specific pork intolerance, the main consideration is fat content rather than the protein itself — introduce gradually and in small amounts initially to assess tolerance.
