Christmas gifts for dogs from Hairy Dogs: three dog advent calendars beside a terrier with Christmas presents and a stocking

Christmas Gifts for Dogs 2026: Advent Calendars & Presents by Budget

Buying for a dog at Christmas is half the fun. Buying for a dog that isn't yours, or for the person on the other end of the lead, can be a bit trickier. So we've done what we do at our market stalls every weekend: picked out the things we'd happily give our own two, sorted by budget, with a few honest notes on who each one suits.

Everything below is in stock as we write this (mid-October). Calendars in particular are limited, so if one catches your eye, don't leave it too late.

Dog advent calendars: which one to pick

We've got three calendars this year, all £19.99, and they're genuinely different. Here's the quick way to choose.

For fish lovers: Nutriment Fishmas Advent Calendar

24 fish treats (12 grain-free salmon cookies and 12 cod skin cubes) plus a pure salmon stick for Christmas Day. Made in Britain. It's the only one of our three with no poultry in the recipe, just salmon and cod, which makes it a useful pick if you're buying for a dog whose owner avoids chicken or turkey.

For sausage fans: Nutriment Gourmet Sausage Advent Calendar

24 grain-free sausages in two festive flavours, turkey & cranberry and duck & orange, plus a turkey & cranberry stick for the big day. Also made in Britain. Easy to break in half for smaller dogs.

For a bit of variety: Waita Freeze-Dried Advent Calendar

24 individually portioned freeze-dried treats: beef and salmon cubes, egg-yolk cubes, festive tree and leaf shapes, a goat-milk stick and a chicken lollipop. Good for dogs who like a different treat each day. Suitable from 3 months (remove the paper lollipop stick before serving).

Tip: pair any calendar with the Waita Christmas Cracker Gift Box (£11.99). It comes to £31.98, which clears our £30 free UK delivery threshold.

For the dog lover (rather than the dog)

Our Field and Fur ceramic baubles (£6.75) are illustrated, breed-specific decorations: Labradors, Dachshunds, Cockapoos, Staffies, Pointers, Sheepadoodles and plenty more. Stock of some breeds is down to the last one or two, so check yours is still there. They make a lovely add-on for a friend, a dog-sitter or the dog walker who never misses a day.

Easy ways to reach free delivery

UK delivery is free on orders over £30. A few combinations that get you there:

Christmas foods to keep away from dogs

The festive table is full of things dogs shouldn't eat. The usual culprits:

  • Chocolate, including chocolate tree decorations and selection boxes
  • Grapes, raisins, sultanas and currants, so mince pies, Christmas pudding, Christmas cake and stollen
  • Onions, garlic, leeks and chives, often hidden in stuffing and gravy
  • Cooked bones from the turkey or joint
  • Xylitol (an artificial sweetener in some sweets, chewing gum and baking)
  • Macadamia nuts and alcohol

If you think your dog has eaten any of these, call your vet straight away, even if they seem fine. Better to give them one of their own treats instead.

Happy Christmas from all of us, two- and four-legged.

Simon & Laura
