Safety

This is a fetch toy, not a chew. A couple of things worth knowing with any tennis ball: the felt coating is mildly abrasive, so heavy, prolonged chewing can wear at a dog's teeth over time — use it for throwing and fetch rather than leaving it down as a chew. And pick a size your dog can't fit fully into their mouth: 6cm suits small to medium dogs, while larger or powerful dogs are safer with a bigger ball, as one that's too small can be a choking risk. Always supervise play, check the ball regularly, and replace it if it splits or gets damaged — swallowed pieces can cause a blockage. Keep fresh water available.

Throw it further with the Ancol Playtime Tennis Ball Launcher, or for water fetch see the Ancol Extreme Floating Ball. From Ancol, stocked at Hairy Dogs.

Common questions

What size dog is 6cm right for?
6cm is a standard tennis-ball size that suits small to medium dogs. For larger or powerful dogs, choose a bigger ball so it can't become a choking hazard.
Can my dog chew it?
It's a fetch toy, not a chew. Tennis-ball felt is mildly abrasive and heavy chewing can wear teeth over time, so use it for throwing and fetch, and supervise play.
Does it float?
Standard tennis balls aren't reliable floaters. For water fetch, the Ancol Extreme Floating Ball is designed to float.
When should I replace it?
Once the felt starts coming away, or the ball splits or gets chewed apart — swallowed pieces can cause a blockage, so swap it for a fresh one.
