A simple, effective tool for removing ticks from your dog — part of Ancol's Ergo range. It slides under the tick and lifts the whole thing out, head and all, without squeezing or crushing it. A handy thing to keep in your dog's first-aid kit, especially in tick season or after walks through woodland and long grass.

  • Removes the whole tick — designed to lift the tick out cleanly, including the head, without leaving mouthparts behind.
  • No squeezing or crushing — unlike tweezers, it doesn't squash the tick's body.
  • Quick & hygienic — no mess, and easy to clean and reuse.
  • Pocket-sized — keep one in your first-aid kit, bag or car.

How to use

  • Part the fur to find the tick and hold the tool flat against the skin.
  • Slide the narrow notch under the tick so it's caught right at the base, against the skin.
  • Lift and pull slowly and steadily — a gentle twist can help — until the tick lets go. Don't yank.
  • Check the whole tick has come away, then clean the tool and the bite area.

Good to know

This is a mechanical removal tool, not a flea or tick treatment or preventative. To protect your dog from ticks, use a product recommended by your vet. Ticks can carry disease, so if your dog seems unwell after a bite — or if you can't remove the tick cleanly — speak to your vet.

Common questions

How does it work?
You slide the notch under the tick at skin level and lift it out, rather than squeezing it like you would with tweezers. That helps the whole tick come away cleanly without crushing its body.
Does it remove the head too?
It's designed to lift the whole tick, including the mouthparts. Always check the tick has come away in one piece — if part of it stays in the skin, contact your vet.
Is it reusable?
Yes — just clean it after each use and keep it in your first-aid kit ready for next time.
Is it a flea or tick treatment?
No — it only removes ticks that are already there. To prevent or treat ticks and fleas, use a product recommended by your vet.
