These are cuddling-and-carrying toys rather than wrestling toys. If your dog is the sort who picks a favourite, carries it to bed and brings it to the door when you get home, this is the category they're for.

Which character?

Practically identical in build — the differences are size and sound. Tweed Duck is 18cm with a squeaker. Harry Hedgehog is 22cm with a crinkle. Squeak tends to get a bigger initial reaction; crinkle holds interest longer and is considerably less irritating in a small front room.

Safety

These are made for cuddling and gentle play and are not indestructible. Supervise your dog with any toy, and take it away once it starts to come apart — loose stuffing and squeakers are a swallowing risk. If your dog is a determined shredder, a plush toy is the wrong choice for them and a rubber or rope toy will last far better.

Common questions

Will these survive my dog?
Depends entirely on the dog. A gentle carrier will keep one for years. A dedicated de-stuffer will have it open in an afternoon — and no plush toy on the market will survive that, whatever the packaging claims. If you know your dog destroys soft toys, buy rubber or rope instead and save yourself the money.
Squeak or crinkle?
The Duck squeaks, the Hedgehog crinkles. Squeakers get the bigger reaction but some dogs fixate on getting the squeaker out, and they're louder for you. Crinkle is quieter and tends to hold a dog's interest across a longer session. If you're buying for a flat, or for the evenings, crinkle.
Are they suitable for puppies?
They're fine for a puppy to cuddle and carry under supervision, and a fabric toy that smells of home can be a comfort in the early weeks. They aren't chew toys though — for a teething puppy you want something made to be chewed.
Can I wash it?
A cool hand wash and a thorough air dry is the safe approach. Bear in mind that washing strips out the accumulated smell of home, which is often the reason a dog likes it — so wash it when it genuinely needs it rather than on a schedule.
