Bag Type

Life of Riley's Mini Cookies are small, crunchy, dog-friendly 'choc' chip cookies — four ingredients, with carob chunks standing in for the chocolate. They look exactly like the real thing, which is most of the fun, and unlike the real thing your dog can actually have them.

Handmade by Life of Riley Bakery Ltd in the UK. 100% natural, grain-free and vegan, with no artificial additives, colours or preservatives, and a natural 12-month shelf life. Supplied in a home-compostable pouch.

  • Carob, not chocolate — This is the important bit. Chocolate is toxic to dogs; carob isn't. It's a naturally sweet pod that looks and behaves like chocolate in baking, and it's what makes a 'choc' chip cookie safe to hand over.
  • Four ingredients — Gram flour, coconut, peanut butter and carob. Nothing else in the bag.
  • Small and crunchy — Mini-sized, so they're easy to portion and easy to carry in a pocket or treat bag without turning to crumbs.
  • Grain-free and vegan — Gram flour is a legume flour, not a grain. No dairy, no meat, no chicken.
  • Home-compostable pouch — The bag goes in the food waste or compost rather than the bin.
  • Handmade in small batches — Baked in a licensed UK bakery rather than manufactured at scale.

Ingredients

Gram flour, coconut, peanut butter, carob.

Feeding guidance

Feed as a complementary treat as part of a balanced diet, adjusting main meals to allow for treats. Always keep fresh water available and supervise your dog while treating. This is a complementary food, not a complete diet.

Good to know: Contains peanut butter — not suitable for dogs with a known peanut or nut allergy.

Storage: Keep somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight.

Common questions

Hang on — chocolate chip cookies for a dog?
Carob chip, not chocolate chip. Chocolate contains theobromine, which dogs can't process properly and which is toxic to them — it should never be given to a dog in any quantity. Carob comes from a completely different plant, contains no theobromine and no caffeine, and has been used in dog treats for decades precisely because it gives you the look and the sweetness without the problem. So: cookies that look like chocolate chip, made deliberately so they aren't.
What's in them?
Four ingredients: gram flour, coconut, peanut butter and carob. Grain-free, vegan and handmade in the UK, with no artificial additives, colours or preservatives.
What is gram flour, and is it really grain-free?
Gram flour is ground chickpea — a legume, not a grain. It's gluten-free and grain-free, and it's the standard base across the Life of Riley range. It's what gives the cookies their structure and their crunch.
Can these be used for training?
They're small, dry and crunchy, so they handle well through a session and don't leave grease on your hands. For very frequent rewarding you'd want something even smaller — the Life of Riley Cheesy Training Treats are purpose-made for that — but these work nicely as a higher-value reward.
