Is carob really safe for dogs — I thought chocolate was toxic?
Yes — carob is completely safe for dogs and is widely used in dog treats as a chocolate substitute. The toxicity of chocolate to dogs comes from theobromine and caffeine, neither of which is present in carob. Carob is derived from the carob tree pod and is naturally sweet without any of the compounds that make cocoa dangerous. The Chocolate Carob flavour contains no actual chocolate or cocoa.
Are these suitable for dogs with food allergies?
These are vegan, grain-free, and meat-free — which eliminates many of the most common dog allergens including chicken, beef, pork, fish, wheat, and other grains.
