The Miro & Makauri Belay nylon lead is a practical everyday lead in three widths, designed to match different breed sizes and walking preferences. The air-cushioned padded handle reduces pressure on the palm during longer walks, and the nylon webbing is durable, easy to wipe clean, and available in up to 8 colours. The three widths are not just about aesthetics — the narrower 15mm is appropriate for small and toy breeds, the 20mm suits small to medium breeds, and the 25mm provides the strength and width needed for medium to large dogs.

Air-cushioned padded handle: The handle is padded with an air-cushioned construction that reduces grip pressure and prevents friction during longer or more active walks. More comfortable than standard flat-webbing handles, particularly when your dog pulls.
Three widths for three size ranges: 15mm for small and toy breeds, 20mm for small to medium breeds, and 25mm for medium to large dogs. The 25mm lead is also slightly shorter (100cm vs 120cm) — a common preference for larger dogs where a shorter lead provides better control.

Width, length, and colour guide

Choose your width based on your dog's size. All widths use a standard trigger clip that attaches to any collar or harness D-ring.

Common questions

Which width should I choose for my dog?

As a general guide: 15mm suits toy and small breeds (Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, Dachshunds, Jack Russells); 20mm suits small to medium breeds (Spaniels, Beagles, Pugs, small Collies); 25mm suits medium to large breeds (Labradors, Border Collies, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers). If your dog sits between size ranges or pulls on the lead, go up a width for more control and durability.

Why is the 25mm lead shorter (100cm) than the 15mm and 20mm (120cm)?

The 25mm lead is designed for larger, stronger dogs where a shorter lead gives the owner more direct control. A 100cm lead sits closer to the handler, reducing the leverage a larger dog can generate during a pull. The 15mm and 20mm leads are 120cm, which suits the lighter, smaller breeds they are sized for and allows a more relaxed gait.

Are Aqua Blue, Country Green, and Orange available in all widths?

Not currently — Aqua Blue, Country Green, and Orange are only available in the 15mm width at Hairy Dogs. The 20mm and 25mm widths are stocked in Navy, Black, Pink, Purple, and Red. If you need one of the three colours in a wider width, contact us and we will let you know if they become available.

How do I clean it?

For everyday mud and dirt, wipe down the webbing with a damp cloth. For a more thorough clean, hand wash in cool water with a small amount of mild detergent, rinse well, and allow to air dry fully before use. The nylon webbing dries quickly. Do not tumble dry.

Does this clip onto any standard collar or harness?

Yes — the lead uses a standard trigger clip that attaches to any conventional collar D-ring or harness D-ring, including the back D-ring on the Miro & Makauri step-in air mesh harness. The clip releases with a thumb press and is the same fitting found on most everyday dog leads.
