Carlos Capybara is an eco leather dog toy from Miro & Makauri — capybara-shaped, made from genuine leather with natural coconut-fibre filling, and coloured using vegetable dyes. No squeaker, no synthetic stuffing, no plastic components. At 26 × 13cm it sits in the middle of the Miro & Makauri eco toy range — larger than Horace Hedgehog (20cm) and more compact than Scottie Squid (40cm), making it a practical size for most breeds and play styles. The capybara shape gives it a distinctive character that's become something of a cultural favourite, which also makes it a strong gifting toy.

Made by Miro & Makauri. Natural materials throughout. Suitable for tug, carry, toss, and interactive play.

  • Genuine leather outer: Durable and natural — leather withstands the carrying, shaking, and tugging that a toy at this size will be put through, without breaking down the way synthetic fabrics do. The texture and scent of leather provides ongoing sensory interest that holds a dog's attention over repeated play sessions.
  • 100% natural coconut-fibre filling: No polyester wadding. Coconut husk fibre is natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable — when this toy eventually gets breached, what comes out is plant-based material rather than synthetic stuffing. Relevant for dogs that mouth and work at their toys persistently.
  • Vegetable dyes: Colour applied using vegetable-based dyes rather than industrial chemical dyes. Dogs that carry and mouth toys repeatedly ingest small amounts of whatever is on the surface — vegetable dyes are the more responsible choice.
  • No squeaker: Deliberately excluded. No plastic insert to work free and swallow, and no auditory stimulation that heightens arousal in ways that aren't always desirable. Carlos Capybara's appeal is texture, character, and interactive play.
  • 26 × 13cm — versatile mid-range size: Large enough to be satisfying for medium and larger breeds, compact enough for smaller dogs to carry comfortably. A practical size for indoor and outdoor play, and easy to pack for walks or training sessions as a portable reward toy.

Care and safety

Spot clean with a damp cloth and allow to air dry naturally. Do not machine wash, soak, or tumble dry. Inspect regularly and remove if damaged or if parts become loose. Not designed for dogs that systematically destroy toys — supervise play and rotate with more durable options for power chewers.

Common questions

How does Carlos Capybara compare to the other Miro & Makauri eco toys?
All four toys share the same genuine leather, coconut-fibre filling, vegetable dye, and no-squeaker construction. The differences are size and character. Horace Hedgehog is the most compact at 20cm — best for smaller dogs and carry play. Carlos Capybara and Kelvin Koala are both 26 × 13cm — the same dimensions, different character shapes, suited to most breeds and play styles. Scottie Squid is the longest at 40cm with jute rope detailing, designed specifically for tug play with more length for both dog and owner to grip. If your dog is between sizes or you're not sure, Carlos Capybara and Kelvin Koala at 26 × 13cm are the most universally practical option in the range.
Is this suitable for puppies?
Yes for supervised play. The natural materials and absence of a squeaker make it a safer option than many synthetic toys for young dogs. The 26 × 13cm size suits medium-to-large puppies particularly well — for smaller breeds and young puppies it's worth checking the size is appropriate. Always supervise play and replace when the toy shows significant wear.
Can my dog chew it?
Light to moderate chewing is fine — leather is a natural material that handles mouthing and moderate chewing well. Carlos Capybara is designed for interactive play (tug, carry, toss) rather than dedicated chewing, so dogs that systematically work through toys will wear it down faster than intended. For power chewers, short supervised sessions and rotation with more robust chew toys is sensible. If the toy is breached, the coconut-fibre filling is natural and non-toxic.
Does it squeak?
No — no squeaker by design. The toy contains no plastic inserts of any kind. This removes both the swallowing risk of a worked-free squeaker and the high-arousal auditory stimulus that squeaky toys create, making Carlos Capybara a calmer and safer option for households and dogs sensitive to noise.
