Size

A natural, long-lasting chew made from handmade olive wood and infused with a little natural olive oil for flavour. Olive wood is naturally dense and hard-wearing, so it stands up to determined chewers — and unlike ordinary sticks, it's far less likely to splinter. Choose the right size for your dog below.

  • Natural olive wood — handmade, with a unique rustic finish; no added chemicals or preservatives.
  • Infused with natural olive oil — for a subtle flavour dogs enjoy.
  • Hard-wearing & long-lasting — a tougher alternative to ordinary sticks.
  • Splinter-resistant — far less likely to splinter than a stick (please see the safety note).
  • Three sizes — from puppies and toy breeds up to bigger dogs and power chewers.

Chewing & safety

Olive wood is a very hard chew. Always supervise your dog, and choose a size too large to be swallowed. As with any hard chew there is some risk of tooth damage, so it may not suit dogs that bite very hard or have dental problems — if in doubt, choose a softer chew or ask your vet. Take the chew away and replace it once it becomes worn or small enough to swallow, to avoid choking or blockage. Although olive wood is far more splinter-resistant than an ordinary stick, no wood chew is completely splinter-proof, so check it over regularly as your dog chews. Keep fresh water available.

Good to know

As a natural wood product, each chew is unique — size, shape and colour will vary. Chewing can help support clean teeth as part of a normal routine, but it isn't a replacement for brushing or veterinary dental care.

From the Hairy Dogs range of natural chews.

Common questions

Do they really not splinter?
Olive wood is much denser than an ordinary stick and far less likely to splinter — but no wood chew is completely splinter-proof. Supervise your dog and check the chew over as they use it.
How long do they last?
Olive wood is hard and hard-wearing, so it generally lasts well — though it depends on your dog's chewing style. Replace it once it's worn down or small enough to swallow.
Which size should I choose?
Always pick a size too big for your dog to swallow. Small suits puppies and toy breeds, medium small-to-medium dogs, and large bigger breeds and power chewers.
Are they good for my dog's teeth?
Chewing can help support clean teeth as part of a routine, but this is a very hard chew — supervise, and it isn't a replacement for brushing or vet dental care. It isn't ideal for dogs with existing dental problems.
