The Anco Premium Goat Pâté is the smallest format in the range at 200g and the most hypoallergenic option Anco produces. Goat is structurally distinct from beef, chicken, pork, and lamb — proteins most dogs in the UK have been routinely exposed to — which makes it a genuinely useful tool for elimination diet protocols or dogs with multiple protein sensitivities. Made from goat meat and offal, grain free, chicken free, suitable from 8 weeks. Available as a single 200g tub or in 3, 5, and 10-packs for multi-dog households or owners who use it regularly.

  • Genuinely hypoallergenic protein: Goat is not commonly used in commercial dog food, making it a low-exposure protein for most dogs. Unlike lamb or duck — which appear more frequently in allergy-focused foods — goat remains largely novel, which gives it value in elimination diet contexts where other proteins have been ruled out.
  • Goat meat and offal: Made from goat meat, heart, liver, and lung. The combination of muscle meat and multiple organ cuts provides a broad nutritional profile from a single protein source, including B vitamins, iron, zinc, calcium, and magnesium.
  • Versatile format: The same soft-but-firm texture as the 400g range — holds its shape when sliced or diced for training treats, and soft enough for lick mats, Kong-style toys, and enrichment surfaces.
  • Available in four pack sizes: Single 200g tub, 3-pack, 5-pack, and 10-pack. The multi-pack options reduce per-unit cost and are well-suited to households using this as a regular rotation protein.
  • Mix and match: Available alongside the Anco 200g Pâté bundle at Hairy Dogs for sampling multiple formats.

Common questions

Why is goat considered hypoallergenic?
Hypoallergenic means low-allergen potential rather than allergy-proof. Goat is considered hypoallergenic for dogs because it is rarely used in commercial pet food, so most dogs have not developed an immune response to it. Allergic reactions typically arise from repeated exposure to a protein over time. Because goat is genuinely uncommon in the UK dog food market, most dogs encounter it as a novel protein — which reduces the likelihood of a reaction. For dogs on elimination diets, it provides a clean protein option when more common sources have been ruled out.
How does goat compare to lamb for sensitive dogs?
Lamb is the most commonly recommended alternative protein in the UK dog food market, meaning many dogs with sensitivities have already been switched to lamb-based diets and may have developed a secondary sensitivity to it. Goat is genuinely less common, which means it is a more reliably novel option for dogs that have already been through a lamb-based elimination diet. For dogs that have reacted to lamb, goat is often the next protein to try under veterinary guidance.
How do I use this for training?
Slice a section and cut into small, consistent pieces — the pâté holds together without crumbling. The 200g format is slightly smaller than the 400g pâtés in the range but still provides a useful number of training portions per tub. The goat scent is mild but motivating for most dogs.
How long does it keep once opened?
Refrigerate immediately once opened and use within 3 days. At 200g, the smaller format means a single tub is typically used within one to two training sessions, reducing the concern about shelf life compared to the larger 400g rolls.
Can I use this to fill a Kong or enrichment toy?
Yes — press the pâté into a Kong-style toy for immediate use, or freeze the filled toy for a longer enrichment session. Particularly useful for dogs on elimination diets where most standard Kong fillings contain proteins that have been excluded.
