Life of Riley's Minty Dental Sticks are baked sticks made from six ingredients: gram flour, coconut, peanut butter, spirulina, mint and parsley. Seven sticks per pack, roughly 200g in total, in a home-compostable, plastic-free pouch.

Same recipe as the Minty Breath Bones — the difference is the format. A stick takes longer to work through than a small biscuit, which suits dogs that hoover treats down in one.

Handmade by Life of Riley Bakery Ltd in the UK. 100% natural, grain-free and vegan, with no artificial additives, colours or preservatives, and a natural 12-month shelf life.

  • Six ingredients — Gram flour, coconut, peanut butter, spirulina, mint and parsley. Nothing else.

  • Plant-based binder — Many sticks in this category use gelatin or other animal-derived binding agents. These don't: no meat, no fish, no dairy, no chicken.

  • Spirulina — A blue-green algae used in small quantity, and what gives the sticks their green colour.

Feeding guidance

Suitable for dogs of all breeds from 12 weeks. One stick a day is a sensible portion for most dogs — feed as a complementary treat alongside a balanced diet, adjusting main meals to allow for treats. Always supervise your dog while treating and keep fresh water available. This is a complementary food, not a complete diet.

Good to know: Contains peanut butter — not suitable for dogs with a known peanut or nut allergy.

What should I expect from a treat called a dental stick?
A baked stick with mint and parsley in it that most dogs enjoy working through. We're deliberately not going further than that. This whole category is sold on promises about teeth and breath, and we don't think a baked treat is the right thing to make those promises about — whatever the packaging says. If you're concerned about your dog's teeth or their breath has changed, a vet check is the right first step, and brushing remains the approach with actual evidence behind it. Give these because your dog likes them and they take a while to eat, which are both perfectly good reasons.
How do these differ from the Minty Breath Bones?
Identical recipe and identical constituents — only the shape and pack differ. These are seven sticks at around 200g in a compostable pouch; the Bones are small bone-shaped biscuits of about 8g each. Sticks last longer per treat, bones are easier to portion for small dogs and for training.
What is gram flour, and is it really grain-free?
Gram flour is ground chickpea — a legume, not a grain. It's gluten-free and grain-free, and it's the standard base across the Life of Riley range. It gives the sticks their structure and a reasonable protein content.
Is peanut butter safe for dogs?
Yes — plain peanut butter is safe for dogs and widely used in natural treats. The one thing to avoid is any peanut butter containing xylitol, which is toxic to dogs; Life of Riley's recipe contains none. If your dog has a known peanut allergy, avoid these.
